“When we are happy—when our mindset and mood are positive—we are smarter, more motivated, and thus more successful. Happiness is the center, and success revolves around it.” ― Shawn Achor
During this chaotic time … what could be more worthwhile than learning how to live a longer and happier life?
The Experience is pleased to offer this FREE Community Event presented by everyone’s friend, Mark Goldschmidt! In this presentation, Mark will explain why happiness is an advantage that can help people improve performance along with mental and physical health. He will include research-driven proactive and reactive habits that can make us happier and potentially even live longer! This version will be a more in-depth look at setting goals, willpower and longevity. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation. Attendance at Part 1 is not required, all are welcome!
Mark Goldschmidt is the Coordinator and Teacher for the Resiliency for Life Program at Framingham High School. Alongside a social worker, Mark supports about 40 students who struggle in a myriad of ways as they strive to achieve their goals for high school and beyond. Most of the students are referred to the program because they are underperforming academically, but the academic struggles are almost always rooted in social/emotional challenges such as depression, clinical anxiety, trauma, family challenges, immigration struggles and poverty.
Over the past few years Mark has been seeking to learn more and more about the science of happiness so that he can benefit from it in his own life, but also to convey it to his students, colleagues, and the runners in the Couch to 5K Program that he helps coordinate through the Greater Framingham Running Club.
Mark lives with his amazing and very patient wife and daughters along with their four-legged daughter Nala, a trained assistance dog from NEADS (neads.org). Nala goes to school with Mark every day to comfort his students. Such a good dog!
